Prayers for Spiritual Strength

to Here I Am, Lord

O Lord Jesus Christ, out of love You died and rose for me and gave me the
Holy Spirit.  In His light and through the prayers of your Holy Mother, I
ask You to proclaim the Gospel of Your love in my heart and in my life
today.  I renounce an attachment to sin, and I rebuke in Your Name every
spirit of evil and disorder.  Let Your risen glory shine all through me
that I may love and adore You with my whole being.  Shine in my body, my
brain and nervous system, my chemistry, every tissue and organ.  Shine in
my mind and will and all their powers; in my psyche, my unconscious, my
sexuality and all my energies, so that I may love and work, pray, play and
sleep in Your holiness.  Shine in my heart and spirit.  Put to death my
egotism.  Cast out my fear and every sinful habit.  Enlighten me wholly and
transform all my relationships.  Fully restore Your image in me so that I
no longer live, but You live in me.  Root me and center me in the Father's
love.  Consecrate me to His praise and to the wholehearted love of all my
brothers and sisters; and order all my days and deeds in your peace.  For
You are my Life, my Hope, my Joy and my Healing.  And I send up glory to
You, and to Your Eternal Father, together with Your All-Holy, Good and
Life-Giving Spirit, now and always, and for ever and ever.  Amen.

---from Fr. Robert Pelton of Madonna House

Father of mercies and God of all consolation,
You gave us the loving Heart of your own beloved Son,
because of the boundless love by which You have loved us,
which no tongue can describe.
May we render You a love that is perfect with hearts made one with His.
Grant, we pray, that our hearts may be brought to perfect unity:
each heart with the other and all hearts with the Heart of Jesus,
and may the rightful yearnings of our hearts find fulfillment through Him:
Our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Amen.

Prayer for Strength in Weakness

Lord Jesus Christ, King of kings, you have power over life and death. You know even things that are uncertain and obscure, and our very thoughts and feelings are not hidden from you. Cleanse me from my secret faults, and I have done wrong and you saw it. You know how weak I am, both in soul and in body. Give me strength, O Lord, in my frailty and sustain me in my sufferings. Grant me a prudent judgement, dear Lord, and let me always be mindful of your blessings. Let me retain until the end your grace that has protected me till now.

~~ St Ephrem of Syria, Deacon, Poet and Doctor

Lord, the world wants to pound us down. We are controlled by clocks,
traffic lights, endless lines, and requested participation in civic events.
Our energies are drained and our nerves become frayed. The trials and demands continue without end, and they often seem urgent, even chaotic.

Will any of it add one single minute more to my life Lord? Help me to separate trial from opportunity, replace demand with sacrifice. Help me to replace urgency with submission to Your will, understanding instead of antagonism. Jesus, slow down my life. Give me the gift of patience.
Help me to understand rather than demand.Relaxation rather than frustration.

Our world is often based on greed and ego,and it results in pain. Can it all be that important? That rush for success can result in physical, emotional  and spiritual illness. Help all of us to see what is missing in our lives, Lord.
Your gift of patience is so important. We need to realize that You are the way. That peace we seek can only come from You. You can calm the waters, and tell the wind o be still. You can restore peace and love.

Jesus, help me to simply live in the world. not be controlled by it. Give me the grace to adapt my days to Your plan, Your will. Grant me the wisdom to place control in Your hands. Replace my limitations and impatience with your unlimited power and peace. I know You appreciate my efforts, but sometimes I am at the mercy of society around me. Intentions may get mistakenly misunderstood. I try to guide and direct and those efforts somehow come across as trying to control. Patience and Charity can be very difficult in the midst of frustration. Jesus , give me the wisdom to see that patience is the cure for frustration. Make it a daily part of my life, in my family relationships especially. Grant me the grace to be able to extend it to all, and particularly to those  whose views do not correspond with mine. Help me to show patience with myself, in recognition
of my failures and limitations. Jesus, help me to place all in Your hands,
knowing You will do what is best for me, and in Your own time frame.
Help me to wait patienly for my Lord.

Prayer for Strength and Light

We adore You, O Holy Spirit. Give us strength, give us light, console us. We give ourselves entirely to You. O Spirit of light and grace, we want to only do the will of the Father. Enlighten us that we may live always in the Father's will. Eternal Spirit fill us with Your Divine Wisdom that we may comprehend more fully insight into Your Divine Mysteries. Give us lights, O Holy Spirit that we may know God. Work within the heart, the spiritual womb of the Virgin Mary, to form us more and more into the image of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer to Our Holy Mother

Sweet Holy Mother, virtuous in all things, open my heart today to be
dutiful to the Sacred Mysteries of the Trinity and to be obedient to the
Sacred Word of God. Bring me, Dear Mother, to the feet of your Son, Jesus,
that I may follow Him along the path to holiness. Keep me close to
Christ, walking with a steady pace, that I may neither look to the world
nor to vain glory lest I fall from the straight and beautiful path of
salvation. Be my protection as I am in darkness. Strengthen and solidify
my reserve to do God's Holy Divine Will. Put my heart at ease in the
Heart of Jesus as I place my heart in yours. Oh Mary! Queen of the
Apostles, and Holy Virtuous Heart, have mercy on me and lead me to God
through the great and wondrous virtues.
Amen.

A Creed For Those Who Have Suffered

I asked God for strength, that I might achieve.
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey...
I asked for health, that I might do great things.
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things...
I asked for riches, that I might be happy.
I was given poverty, that I might be wise...
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men.
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God...
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life.
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things...
I got nothing I asked for - but everthing I had hoped for;
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.
I am, among men, most richly blessed!

In Time of Need

Heavenly Father, in my present need, help me to believe that You are aware of my anxiety and will do what is best for me. Give me the strength to trust You and put the present and future in Your Hands. Grant this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

The Potter's Wheel

When you're troubled and discouraged
In the darkness of the night
When obstruction clouds your vision
And you just can't see the light.

When life's trials overcome you
And you have nowhere to turn
When you've reached the very bottom
There are lessons you must learn.

For the clay is being molded
It's been twisted, pulled and tossed
It's been rolled and it's been pounded
Till the ego has been lost.

He will put you through the furnace
You'll be tested to the brim
Your life will be in pieces
Till you give your soul to Him.

From blemish to perfection
His hands will form the clay
This human piece of rubble
Must let God have His way.

When you come to Him all battered
In the form of mortal man
When you cry to Him in mercy
You will find the Potter's hand.

He will grind you, mold and chisel
The friction you will feel
Till He gently carves and shapes you
Upon the Potter's wheel.
