Prayers for World Peace

to Let There Be Peace On Earth

To Bring Christ's Peace to the World

God, our Father, Your Word, Jesus Christ, spoke peace to a sinful world and brought mankind the gift of reconciliation by the suffering and death He endured. Teach us, the people who bear His name, to follow the example He gave us: may our faith, hope, and charity turn hatred to love, conflict to peace, and death to eternal life. Amen.

God of power and mercy, You destroy war and put down earthly pride. Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears that we may all deserve to be called Your sons and daughters. Amen.

Prayer for Harmony

God the Father, source of everything divine, You are good surpassing everything good and just surpassing everything just. In You is tranquility, as well as peace and harmony. Heal our divisions and restore us to the unity of love, which is similar to Your divine nature. Let the bond of love and the ties of divine affection make us one in the Spirit by Your peace which renders everything peaceful. We ask this through the grace, mercy, and compassion of Your only Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

~~St Dionysius of Alexandria, Bishop and Educator

God the Father, origin of divinity, good beyond all good, and fair beyond all fair, You are the abode of calmness, peace and concord. Put an end to the discord that separates us from one another, and lead us back to a unity of love that may show some similarity to Your divine nature.

As You are above all things, unite us by the unanimity of a good mind, so that through the embrace of love and the bonds of affection we may become spiritually one---both in ourselves and in each other---by means of Your peace which renders all things peaceful. Amen.

Lord, You guide all creation with fatherly care. As You have given all men one common origin, bring them together peacefully into one family and keep them united in brotherly love. Amen.

Almighty and Eternal Father, God of wisdom and mercy, whose power exceeds all force of arms and whose protecion is the strong defense of all who trust in Thee, enlighten and direct, we beseech Thee, those who bear the heavy responsibility of government throughout the world in these days of stress and trial. Grant them the strength to stand firm; for what is right and the skill to dispel the fears that foment discord. Inspire them to be mindful of the horrors of atomic war for victor and vanquished alike, to seek conciliation in truth and patience, to see in every man a brother, that the people of all nations may, in our day, enjoy the blessings of a just and lasting peace.

Conscious of our own unworthiness,
we implore Thy mercy on a sinful world
in the name of Thy Divine Son, the prince of peace,
and through the intercession of His Blessed Mother
and all the saints.

Queen of All Saints, pray for us.
Queen of the Holy Rosary, pray for us.
Queen of Peace, pray for us.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Father, send now Your Spirit over the earth.
Let the Holy Spirit live in the hearts of all Nations, that they may be preserved from degeneration, disaster and war. May the Lady of All Nations who once was Mary, be our Advocate! Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father, I clearly see that it is Your will for us to dwell in peace and safety. In obedience to Your Holy Word, I continue to pray in the Name of Jesus that those in authority will make decisions to keep our nation safe, just as I pray for peace in other nations.
May our nation continue to help other nations that are in trouble and are less fortunate than we are. Restore good leaders in all positions of authority in every country throughout the world, that they may work together in peace and harmony with one another. Relieve the suffering of those who live in countries where tyrants rule with cruelty, discrimination, and unfairness. Rather, take these nations under Your wing and open the hearts of their leaders to Your Divine Will. O Father, I pray that every time a national leader is replaced, either through popular voting or appointment, that the new leaders will be wise and just with the authority given them.
I pray that each national leader be understanding of the differences in cultures and traditions among countries, and embrace each other in a spirit of true peace. Turn their hearts toward You, O Father, so that the greed for power and control of other countries and the people of the world is a thing of the past. Help us to look forward to a peaceful future, with all peoples of this world uniting for the good of all, in peace and harmony.
In Jesus' Holy Name, I pray. Amen.

Prayer for Peace by Pope John Paul II

O God, Creator of the universe, who extends your paternal concern over every creature and guides the events of history in the goal of salvation, we acknowledge your fatherly love when you break the resistance of mankind and, in a world torn by strife and discord, you make us ready for reconciliation. Renew for us the wonders of your mercy: send forth your Spirit that He may work in the intimacy of hearts, that enemies may begin to dialogue, that adversaries may shake hands and peoples may encounter one another in harmony. May all commit themselves to the sincere search for true peace which will extinguish all arguments, for charity which overcomes hatred, for pardon which disarms revenge.Amen.

O Lord, the God of peace, You Who have created men and shown them Your benevolence, so that they might share as sons in Your glory, we bless You and we give You thanks, because You have sent us Jesus, Your well-beloved Son, and, through the mystery of His resurrection, You have made Him the worker of all salvation, the source of all peace, the bond of all brotherhood.

We give You thanks for the desires, the efforts, the achievements stirred up by Your Spirit of peace in our time, to replace hate by love, mistrust by understanding, indifference by reliance on each other. Open our minds and our hearts ever wider to the real demands of the love of all our brothers so that we may become peacemakers more completely. Remember, O Father of mercy, all those who struggle, suffer and die, to bring forth a world of closer brotherhood. May Your kingdom of justice, of peace, and of love, come to men of every race and every tongue and may the earth be filled with Your glory. Amen.

The Litany to the Lamb of God in Time of War

V. The Lord give you peace;
R. Peace and good will.

O Lord Jesus Christ, Who didst say to Thy Apostles, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you," look not upon my sins, but upon the faith of Thy Church, and vouchsafe to her that peace and unity which is agreeable to Thy will, Who livest and reignest, God forever and ever. Amen.

Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy. Jesus hear us.
Jesus, graciously hear us.

By the hymn of the Angels at Thy birth, Grant us peace.
By Thy salutation to the Apostles, Grant us peace.
By Thy voice to the waves of Galilee, Grant us peace.
By Thy blessing to the sinner, Grant us peace.
By Thy prayers for unity among Thy disciples, Grant us peace.
By the love that was to mark Thy followers, Grant us peace.
By the great peace offering of the Cross, Grant us peace.
By Thy parting promise, "My peace I leave you," Grant us peace.

From the ambition of empire, Deliver us, O Lord.
From the greed for territory, Deliver us, O Lord.
From the blindness that is injustice, Deliver us, O Lord.
From the selfishness that is theft, Deliver us, O Lord.
From the liberty which is license, Deliver us, O Lord.
From the love of money which is idolatry, Deliver us, O Lord.
From the hate that is murder, Deliver us, O Lord.
From the hardness that will not pardon, Deliver us, O Lord.
From the pride that will not ask pardon, Deliver us, O Lord.

By the helpless cry of orphans, We beseech Thee, hear us.
By the anguished tears of widows, We beseech Thee, hear us.
By the groans of the dying, We beseech Thee, hear us.
By the dead in unblessed graves, We beseech Thee, hear us.
That Thou wouldst make all nations to dwell as one, We beseech Thee, hear us.
That the hearts of rulers may be as wax in Thy hands, We beseech Thee, hear us.
That having learned in affliction, we may turn to Thee, We beseech Thee, hear us.
That wars may cease from the earth, We beseech Thee, hear us.
By Thy title, "Prince of Peace," Lord God of Armies, We beseech Thee, hear us.

Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world, Grant us peace.
Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world, Grant us peace.
Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world, Grant us peace.

V. I am the Salvation of the people, saith the Lord;
R. In whatever tribulation they shall cry to Me, I will hear them.

Let Us Pray: Jesus, meek and humble of heart, teach us, who have sinned against Heaven and before Thee, the saving grace of a true humility, that we and all the peoples of this world may acknowledge and bewail that spirit of materialism and self-seeking and lust for power and vengeance which has plunged the family of nations into war, until in Thy just wrath the world suffers that punishment which, by turning from Thee, it has brought upon itself. In humility and penance, may we lessen the guilt and hasten true peace, without victory, save the victory of union with Thee. Amen.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have mercy on us.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have mercy on us.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have mercy on us.

Give peace, O Lord, in our days,
For there is none other that fighteth for us, but only Thou, Our God.

V. Let there be peace in Thy strength, O Lord,
R. And plenty in Thy strong places.

Let Us Pray:  O God, from Whom proceed all holy desires, all right counsels and all just works, grant unto us Thy servants that peace which the world cannot give, that our hearts may be devoted to Thy service, and that being delivered from the fear of our enemies, we may pass our time in peace under Thy protection, through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Immaculate Queen of Peace, Pray for us.
